Katie Strickfaden

Katie began her legal career working at the Free Legal Aid Clinic (FLAC) while in law school. The experience working at FLAC shaped Katie’s legal career resulting in dedication to public service work and working to end domestic violence and improve the legal system’s responses to survivors.

Starting as a staff attorney at Lakeshore Legal Aid in 2007, Katie worked at the Counsel and Advocacy Law Line and represented high risk survivors in family law proceedings in Wayne County. In 2010, Katie went on to become the Director of the Solution Oriented Domestic Violence Prevention Court (SODVPC), a newly created specialty court within the Family Division of Wayne County Circuit Court. As the court grew, so did Katie’s responsibilities, eventually directing the SODVPC and the PPO docket. Katie was honored to begin serving the litigants of Wayne County as a Friend of the Court Referee in 2015.

In 2016 Katie left the court to return to Lakeshore Legal Aid as our Chief Operating Officer.

Katie is a member of the Access to Justice Committee of the State Bar of Michigan, is a past President of the Stonewall Bar Association (now the LGBTQIA+ section of the State Bar), and member of the Women’s Lawyers Association of Michigan.
Katie spends her free time watching any sporting event that she can find and hanging out with her amazing wife and their two dogs, Betty White and Ruth Fernicus (Fern for short).
